What Is The Best Teeth Whitener

A smile can do wonders, win hearts, win people and most importantly generate happiness. But what if the same smile is plagued with discolored and worn teeth? No body wants to show their stained teeth but want an absolutely stunning row of glowing teeth. However years of continuous intake of tobacco, tea, coffee or wine, the teeth lose their natural sheen and discoloration occurs. But with the many products available in the market, getting whiter teeth again is no more a difficult task. There are many over-the-counter products as well as home remedies available that help in getting back white teeth.

All the products launched in the market claim to give a brilliant smile by whitening your teeth back to their natural stage. But how far the claims of these products are true is a matter of concern. However it is not that bad as there are products that are extremely well and produce the desired results with minimal side effects. These are discussed as below:

Custom whitening trays: a proven product for teeth whitening, trays are the most suitable and the most consistent product that provides the desired results. Earlier these were available only at the dentists’ office but now are available for home use at a fraction of the cost. Currently there are three types of teeth whitening trays. The first of these is a disposable tray, the second is a non-disposable tray and the third is the custom fitted tray.

Disposable tray: as the name suggests, this is for one time use. Made of a flimsy material, the tray holds the whitening gel and the main benefit of such a tray is that the gel is pre-inserted so there is no need to do that. However a drawback of such a tray is that it is not molded so does not fits correctly in the mouth and therefore move about in the mouth while in use.

Non-disposable tray: better fitting than the disposable tray, the non-disposable tray is made of a material that is similar to rubber. These trays are better than the disposable ones as they are bigger in size and thus fit in to the teeth much easily and let the whitening gel do its job. However even this tray has a drawback and that is that the gel has to be manually inserted into the tray and the tray has to be cleaned afterwards. The gel has to be repurchased before each use and even the tray needs to be replaced after continuous use.

Custom fitted whitening tray: the ideal solution which removes the drawbacks of both the above mentioned types of trays is the custom fitted whitening tray. As it is the most effective of the treatments, it is also the most expensive option. Using a new hybrid solution, these trays are called the thermoforming trays and work by soaking in water. This makes them malleable and then it can be pressed into the teeth. It is removed once it hardens and then cold water is used to wash it. The benefit is that it can be molded to the teeth with any type of teeth whitening or bleaching gel.

Therefore whatever the type of tray used, it is the best and the cheapest method of teeth whitening available.

Do Your Teeth Need Whitening?

It is natural to lose the brilliant whiteness of your teeth over the years. This process is further hastened by the continuous intake of tea, coffee and tobacco which causes staining and discoloration of the teeth. However, besides getting dental treatments for the whitening of your teeth which can be expensive, there are many products available that you can use yourself at home. If your teeth are not too bad, remedies to whiten your teeth can be as simple as the future avoidance of tobacco products, cutting back on tea and coffee, not drinking red wine and grape juice and immediately brushing teeth if any one of these is indulged in. That may be enough to halt any further loss of whiteness.

If you feel that you require stronger solutions, there are many teeth whitening products like teeth whitening trays, gels, capsules, ampoules, strips and kits available over the counter which can be very cost effective. Each product has its own advantages and a few drawbacks, but as long as they are used safely and with precaution, they do not pose much of a problem.

For those that cannot buy these kits but still want sparkling white teeth there are a number of homemade remedies for teeth whitening. These include using lemon and baking soda as a paste, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide as a paste, brushing teeth with lemon juice and salt, rubbing the inside of orange or lemon peel or simply rubbing crushed strawberries on the teeth. The enzymes and chemicals present in strawberries naturally whiten teeth. However all these methods must be first evaluated according to the gravity of the discoloration of the teeth. Also care must be taken when peroxide is used. Although it is a mild acid and acts like a bleaching agent, its acidic nature cannot be ignored. Hence, if swallowed by mistake its effect can be neutralized by having lots of water.  All of the above mentioned homemade remedies for whitening the teeth must be used only once or at the most twice a week and not more. Excessive usage may cause damage to the enamel and the gums.

Besides the various over the counter products available, professional costly dental treatment and the homemade remedies, there are also various companies which operate teeth whitening systems via the post. These treatments are usually provided by reputable companies who have properly tested their teeth whitening products and who offer the peace of mind of a free trial or money back guarantee so that you can test their systems at home before committing yourself any further.
